Railroad Ties & Pressure Treated Timbers

RAILROAD TIES

Railroad ties are treated with "creosote", an excellent dark colored oily preservative. The used railroad ties are hard to beat when it comes to structural soundness and economy for landscaping uses. It is not advisable to put railroad ties in areas where the "creosote" might rub off on clothing or skin.

REBAR AND SPIKES

If you need to hold timbers or rail road ties in place for retaining walls we have 12" spikes (130 per box) or 1/2" x 24" rebar.

PRESSURE TREATED TIMBERS (ACQ)

Alkaline Copper Quaternary (ACQ) is the newest advance in wood preservation. ACQ is a waterborne system that is copper based. The copper and quaternary compounds together provide protection from a broad spectrum of fungi and termites, preventing rot and decay. These timbers are user friendly, lightweight, and can be cut easily. Pieces of this wood should not be burned as they can release harmful gases.
