TOPSOIL

Normally the top 6” to 12” growing medium of earth. Topsoil provides a good growing media for any plants. It usually needs fortification with compost or peat moss, which provides both fertilization and water retention.

PLANTERS MIX

Planters Mix is 70-75% topsoil containing 25-30%
Compost/organic material. Planters Mix is an excellent mixture for planting sod, flower and vegetable gardens. This soil mixture is used when a little extra water retention is desired such as ground planters or flower pots where evaporation occurs more quickly.

DAKOTA PEAT MOSS

Peat Moss is a decomposed plant matter with high organic content. Peat Moss is good for breaking up hard compacted clay or silty soil allowing plants to breath and the soil to retain moisture. Peat Moss is good as a soil amendment in gardens or under sod. It is most valuable for its properties of water retention. Concentrated; should not be used straight, only as a soil additive. Rototill into soil about 1” of Peat Moss to 4” of soil. Excellent in sandy soils where water retention is a problem. Peat Moss has little fertilizing value.
